I am a PhD candidate at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) and the department of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). I hold an M.Phil. degree in Sociology from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. I completed my M.Phil. in Sociology being a fellow at the International Development Research Centre of Canada and at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute Pakistan. My research interests are police legitimacy and vigilante violence. I published a research paper in British Journal of Criminology titled “Corruption and Police Legitimacy in Lahore, Pakistan” with Professor Jonathan Jackson from LSE, Dr. Ben Bradford from Oxford and Professor Dr. Zakria Zakar from University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Another paper appeared in Comparative and Applied Criminal Justice “Police Legitimacy and Support for Vigilante Violence in Pakistan” with Dr. Justice Tankebe at Cambridge university. In fall 2012, I started teaching to BS (Honors) freshmen for one year in a public sector college. In 2013, I started teaching in the Government Science College Wahdat Road as a lecturer. Later I became research assistant and visiting lecturer at the department of Sociology, University of the Punjab, Lahore, followed by a permanent position as a lecturer at Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore. Currently, besides my work as a PhD candidate, I am a lecturer at Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan.
